I. Background
We would like to share with you background information regarding the church of Christ to help you understand who we are.
We believe that the church of Christ, the kingdom of God, was established on the first Pentecost following the Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus Christ. Some of the materials for this church were prepared and collected in Jerusalem before Pentecost, just as one collects material for a house to be built, but it was not organized to perform its function until the day of Pentecost (C.R. Nichol, 1921). Also, as Acts chapter 2 illustrates, the first addition of members to the Lord's body (church) took place on this day by the Lord himself (Acts 2:47). No one had been added to the church prior to this date because it had not yet been established. The Church of Christ is the only church you can read about in the bible, therefore all other denominations or churches not starting on the Day of Pentecost are not in fellowship with the churches of Christ.
